Remo Schmidhauser joined Tappolet & Partner in 2017, and became a partner in 2022. He practices in all areas of national and international tax law, with special emphasis on corporate law and restructurings, succession planning, tax criminal law as well as international administrative and legal assistance. He also advises individuals and entities in respect of their FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and CRS (Common Reporting Standard) requirements. He is a member of both the Swiss and the Zurich Bar Association and is fluent in German and English.
Remo Schmidhauser holds a law degree from the University of St. Gallen (lic.iur. HSG 2000) and was admitted to the bar in 2002. He holds a degree in international business law from the University of Zurich (LL.M. 2006) and a degree in tax law from the Swiss institute in tax law (MAS FH in Taxation/LL.M. Taxation 2012). Prior to joining Tappolet & Partner, he was a Manager in the tax department of a BigFour (2014-2017), tax counsel at a universal bank (2009-2014), legal counsel at a fiduciary company (2008-2009), prosecutor at the public prosecutor of the canton of St. Gallen (2003 – 2008) as well as trainee and interim clerk at the district court of Sargans (2000-2002).
