Patrick Schmid has been with Tappolet & Partner since 2025. He advises individuals and companies in all areas of national and international tax law, in particular corporate taxes, real estate gains tax, inheritance tax and gift tax. He also advises on M&A transactions, restructurings, employee participation plans and transfer pricing. He is a member of the Swiss and the Zurich Bar Association and also of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). Patrick Schmid is fluent in German and English.

Patrick Schmid holds two degrees from the University of Fribourg (MLaw 2011, M.A. in Accounting and Finance 2014). In 2014 he was addmitted to the bar and in 2017 he certified as tax expert. In 2024 Patrick Schmid earned a doctorate in international tax law (Dr. iur. HSG) from the University of St. Gallen. Before joining Tappolet & Partner, Patrick was an associate at a Zurich law firm (2021 – 2025), an assistant at the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of St. Gallen (2017 – 2020), and an associate at an international law firm (2014 – 2017). Since 2025, Patrick Schmid is a lecturer in tax law at the University of St. Gallen and a lecturer in transfer pricing at EXPERTSuisse in the program for certified tax experts.
